The Master of Science in Nursing with emphasis in Nursing Education focuses on preparing BSN-prepared nurses to become nursing educators. Its purpose is to address the need for increasing the number of nurses by alleviating the shortage of nursing educators. Upon completion of the 36-hour curriculum, students will be able to evaluate nursing curricula, apply leadership principles to respond to changes in healthcare instruction, analyze nursing philosophy and research to make evidence-based decisions, examine personal and professional ethics regarding healthcare, design a contextual nursing curriculum, and apply culturally sensitive and evidence-based teaching strategies. The program is in candidacy for accreditation by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing. The program is completed entirely online. Students are accepted in both Fall and Spring semesters. Applicants must have a BSN.
