The purpose of the interdisciplinary PhD in Nursing and Healthcare Innovation (PhD) program is to provide an academic environment that fosters scholarship, critical thinking and creativity. The 84-credit program is designed for scholars who wish to develop advanced leadership skills in innovation, research, education, health care delivery, and policy issues as they generate and apply knowledge across settings. Student achievement is supported through rigorous coursework and personal, guided mentorship in research, a hallmark of the program. Coursework is offered in both traditional on-site delivery format and synchronous online delivery, each designed to maintain the commitment to a highly mentored, interactive learning experience. Student research is supported by interdisciplinary faculty in various programs and Centers for Research Excellence, including health disparities, healthcare innovation leadership, healthy aging, healthy families, nursing education, and world health promotion and disease prevention.
