The Professional and Technical Communication Department offers a 31-credit Master of Science in Technical Communication (MSTC) degree with thesis, publishable paper, or project options. Individuals from backgrounds as diverse as graphic arts, business, marketing, public relations, journalism, and management come together to enhance their communication skills. Students gain expertise in all areas of written, oral, graphic, and digital communication and develop individualized study programs in consultation with their advisors. Students study rhetorical theory and learn both quantitative and qualitative approaches to research methods. The MSTC program currently enjoys a 100% placement rate, with all graduates employed in the field of communication. These graduates are currently working as communication consultants, journalists, managers, technical writers/editors, and innovators in multimedia information design.
