The Public History Concentration at Eastern Washington University offers students the opportunity to apply the best practices in digital and traditional public history in a variety of real-world settings. In partnership with local and regional museums, libraries, archives, and businesses as well as governmental agencies at the local, state, and national levels, the EWU public history program provides students with the use of advanced technologies, mentorship by nationally and regionally-renowned faculty, and hands-on experience in the full range of public history from archives and libraries to museums and historical sites. A particular strength of the EWU public history program is in digital archiving. Taking advantage of the presence of the Washington State Digital Archives, the first built-from-the-ground-up digital archives in the world, on the Cheney campus, the EWU public history program offers unparalleled opportunities to not just learn the techniques of digital archiving, but also to practice them in a state-of-the-art facility with industry leaders.
