Applied Behavioral Analysis - Special Education Advanced Studies Option

Department Website

There are two options at MSU; MS in Applied Behavioral Analysis and Certificate from the Behavioral Analysis Certification Board (BACB).

The ABA Program at MSU-Billings was designed to develop behavior analysts who serve individuals with special needs in schools and private practice.  ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, and is the most effective, evidence-based intervention for children with autism (Simpson, 2005).  Many states in the WICHE program have passed insurance reform laws so that symptoms of autism can be treated by ABA interventions.  These laws require services be performed by a Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA).  The courses at MSU-Billings allow graduate students who complete the program to apply for the professional exam (BCBA).  We also offer courses for BCaBA (assistant).

The online and distance supervision components are meant to meet professionals where they live and work, so that the needs of rural communities and underserved populations are addressed.
