Nurse Educator

Department Website

The Fay W. Whitney School of Nursing offers an MS degree for individuals desiring to become nurse educators. The Nurse Educator (EDUC) option leads to a MS with eligibility to take the national certifying examination (CNE).  A program of study is also available for RNs (registered nurses) with non-nursing baccalaureates. Additionally, a certificate program is available for RNs who have a previous master’s degree in nursing who wish to become a Nurse Educator (NSED).

All courses in the Nurse Educator option are on-line. An on-site orientation is required for all admitted students before the first fall semester of courses. The final specialty course requires 120 contact hours of teaching experience and may be accomplished within the student’s own geographic area. Adhering to the application deadline is imperative as admissions are limited. Information on both the MS and Certificate Program as well as application materials are available through the nursing website.
