Geographic Information Science

Department Website

Our Master of Science in Geographic Information Science program offers students the training needed for in-demand careers in GIS and geospatial analysis. Our core classes give students a strong background in spatial analysis, spatial statistics, spatial databases, web GIS, and project management. Technical electives allow students to choose from advanced courses in remote sensing, hazards/emergency management, field methods, and geocomputation. Our students use a capstone experience to complete a "real world" project in collaboration with GIS professionals in the public and private sectors. Our students also complete a project portfolio that they can use to advertise their skills to employers and clients.
