The MS curriculum requires students to complete substantial coursework in theory development and social science process. A minimum of 72 semester hours of study beyond the master's degree is required for both the PhD and the EdD; both degree programs typically require at least three full years of study beyond the master's degree. The PhD program consists of a major in parks, recreation, and tourism; a minimum of 15 hours of study in an area of concentration, and a research core that includes dissertation research. The EdD program involves a major in parks, recreation, and tourism; a 24-hour minor in education; and a research core that includes a dissertation.
