The Gerontology Interdisciplinary Program is a university-wide program designed to prepare graduates for careers as administrators, service providers, researchers, or educators in the field of aging. The Gerontology Center's theme is "promoting optimal aging and intergenerational relationships throughout the life course. This theme influences the teaching, research and service activities of the program. Students may choose a focus of research and evaluation; long-term care and aging services administration; educational gerontology and lifelong learning; geriatric care management; healthy aging; or gerontological research and evaluation. In addition to courses in the focus area, the curriculum includes work in health issues, research, psychosocial services and programs, and a practicum experience. Students may develop other specializations with the approval of their supervisory committees.
