The 30 credit hour Master of Science in Information Systems (MSIS) program is designed to provide advanced technical training for individuals seeking to better understand and manage the technology of business. Incredibly relevant coursework and extensive opportunities for hands-on experience prepare graduates for high-paying leadership positions in one of the fastest growing job sectors in the world. With companies such as eBay, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, and EMC located near Salt Lake City, University of Utah MSIS graduates have access to job opportunities at some of the most coveted technology corporations.

The MSIS program at the University of Utah offers a solid foundation of core information systems courses (18 credit hours), and 12 hours of specialized elective training in the areas of business intelligence and analytics (BIA), software and systems architecture(SSA), product and process management (PPM), and IT security (ITS). An 18 credit hour graduate certificate in information systems is also available. Graduate certificate students select at least 18 credits from any of the graduate level courses (6000 level or above) offered by the Operations and Information Systems department at the David Eccles School of Business. Certificate students are encouraged to take either the MSIS core or courses from one of the specialized elective groupings identified in the MSIS program. Pursuant to University of Utah Graduate School policy, certificate students who desire to transfer into the MSIS program, may have up to 9 certificate program credits applied towards the completion of the full MSIS degree. However, completion of the graduate certificate program does guarantee admission to the MSIS degree program.
