Earn your Master's degree in Health, Kinesiology & Recreation with an emphasis in wellness coaching at the University of Utah. The Coaching Wellness Master's program is designed to prepare students to provide leadership for both individual and organizational journeys to wellness through a blend of traditional didactic and practical learning experiences. The curriculum includes 44 credit hours from core courses in exercise physiology, behavior change, nutrition, exercise for health, fitness and disease prevention, and research interpretation and evaluation. Students also complete 450 hours of supervised clinical wellness coaching practice in a variety of wellness settings. Finally, over the course of the 2-year program, students develop, implement and evaluate evidence-based wellness programs or interventions to fulfill their non-thesis project requirement. Requirements for admission include: a bachelor's degree from a regionally accredited college or university, successful completion of undergraduate coursework in exercise science and nutrition, an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 overall or during the last two years of coursework, official transcripts from all schools attended, GRE test scores, a 500-word essay indicating your personal objectives and rationale for seeking this degree program, and two letters of reference. The departmental application deadline for the Kinesiology track is December 1st for a fall semester start date. This is not an online program. This graduate program has been approved as a transition program with the National Consortium for the Credentialing of Health and Wellness Coaches and graduates are able to sit for the NCCHWC certification exam.
