Doctor of Nursing Practice Outreach Nurse Practitioner Program, specializing in one of the following three primary care nurse practitioner areas: Adult/Gerontology, Family and Pediatric. The Outreach program specializes in educating future nurse practitioners to work with rural, underserved, and aging populations in the Intermountain West. Nurse practitioners are a vital force in expanding and shaping primary care services in a variety of contexts. They have an important role providing comprehensive primary health care to their specialty populations and play a critical role in serving the health care needs of vulnerable populations. The program is offered in a web-based distance-learning format, week-long intensive sessions each semester, and clinical placement in the student's home community. The Outreach NP program is a full-time program, and can be completed in 8 semesters. A sample program of study is available on our website. The Outreach program has over 75 clinical sites with more than 100 preceptors in rural and underserved areas as well as metropolitan sites.
