Department Website www.soest.hawaii.edu/GG/academics/gg_mgeo.html

The MGeo provides a Master's degree credential and more importantly, basic training and practical work experience in applied geoscience. Students are prepared to pursue careers in a variety of fields including geological and environmental consulting, geotechnical engineering, hydrology, natural hazard mitigation, climate change adaption, natural resource exploration, renewable energy development, and more. The program was designed in collaboration with professionals already working in these fields, and the final project is done as an intern or employee with a local company or agency. The MGeo is for individuals who have completed a bachelor's degree in natural science, math, or engineering, including working professionals. Key courses are scheduled in the evenings or made remotely accessible, facilitating studies for working professionals with full-time jobs. The MGeo can be completed in as little as one year if taken full-time, or 2 years if combined with full-time work.
