The graduate program provides advanced professional training in the fields of East Asian linguistics and literatures: Chinese, Korean and Japanese. Courses for students developing a disciplinary expertise in linguistics include language history, linguistic structure, sociolinguistics, language acquisition, and pedagogy. Courses for students developing a disciplinary expertise in literature include literary history, criticism, and cultural studies.
