This program employs highly diverse natural and human resources by bringing together natural and social scientists to offer holistic, integrative, multidisciplinary training on understanding and managing tropical terrestrial ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on tropical small island settings and their relevance to managing coastal zones in general. The program incorporates the various components and scales (spatial and temporal) that determine ecosystem function and underpin the productive, profitable, and sustainable use and management of land, water, forest, environment, and economic resources.
