The University of Hawai‘i Office of Public Health Studies is the leading provider of public health education in the state of Hawai‘i. We focus on improving the health of the multiple indigenous, local, migrant, and immigrant groups in the state, including Native Hawaiians, other Pacific Islanders (especially those from the Pacific Islands with historical ties to the U.S.), Filipinos, other Southeast Asians, Chinese, Japanese, Koreans, and people of mixed ancestry. Areas of research include indigenous and immigrant health, cancer prevention and control, diabetes and obesity prevention, infectious disease control, youth violence prevention, injury prevention, global health, and health promotion through organizational, policy, and built-environment change.
