Department Website

The Acute Care Adult-Gerontology Nurse Practitioner specialty prepares nurses to work in the specialty areas of urgent, emergent and critical care as an acute care nurse practitioner. The need for appropriately educated and certified acute care adult-gerontology NPs has increased over the past 10 years. The demand continues to grow for the specialized advanced practice nurse. Nurse practitioner students are prepared to provide safe, competent and satisfying care to their patients within their specialty. Acute Care AGNPs are prepared to formulate clinical, administrative or policy decisions to promote health with clients experiencing acute or chronic illness and to develop, manage, and evaluate the care within hospitals and health care systems. The program is available online. Applications are due January 15th for students who want to matriculate in the fall semester and June 15th for students who want to matriculate in the spring semester. WICHE applicants must provide a copy of their driver’s license from the approved WICHE state with an email to the University of Colorado Registrar’s Office requesting evaluation for WICHE.
