This multidisciplinary degree includes studies in the areas of civil engineering, information systems, geography and environmental sciences, and urban and regional planning. It emphasizes quantitative methods in the development and application of geographic information systems (GIS) concepts and tools to a wide spectrum of discipline-specific settings that have significant spatial dimensions. The program offers introductory and advanced courses in geodatabase development and implementation, engineering measurements, remote sensing, spatial analyses, object-oriented programming, and GIS management and policies. The degree is offered entirely online, using web-based courseware and video-conferencing technologies. Graduates have successfully assumed leadership positions in a wide variety of public agencies and consulting firms.
