The Master of Taxation (MT) is a 45 credit-hour program that can be completed either full-time in four quarter (12 months) or part-time (in 24 months). New cohorts are admitted annually in the summer term (late June). The program is designed to build students’ expertise in analyzing tax issues at any level, as well as develop strategic recommendations to clients, employers or the IRS. It consists of 33 credit hours in the core, required curriculum, with an additional 12 credit hours of electives, and is structured to encourage full-time tax season internships. Students will develop the skills for critical analysis of tax problems, as well as effective and professional research and writing. The program culminates in an application-focused capstone project. A collaborative online environment affords students the flexibility to access content and engage with classmates and instructors from anywhere, anytime. On-campus weekend residencies in Portland at the beginning of each of the four quarters will deepen students’ connections with faculty, peers, mentors, practitioners, and future employers.
