The Dept. of Atmospheric Sciences offers programs leading to the master of science and doctor of philosophy degrees. Research is conducted through the Institute of Atmospheric Physics in atmospheric radiation and remote sensing, atmospheric chemistry, lightning and atmospheric electricity, dynamic meteorology, climate dynamics and global change, land-surface interactions, mesoscale and synoptic meteorology, ensemble prediction, atmospheric predictability, and hydrometeorology. Students with undergraduate majors in physics, chemistry, mathematics, or engineering are particularly encouraged to apply. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in statistics and computer programming.
